Latvia's climate and energy minister visits PNE AG in Cuxhaven

  • Talks on the development of a coastal location into a wind energy hub
  • City of Cuxhaven, Agency for Economic Development and IHK also involved

Cuxhaven, 25 September 2024 – Latvian Climate and Energy Minister Kaspars Melnis and Deputy State Secretary Liga Rozentale made a detour to Cuxhaven as part of the WindEnergy trade fair taking place in Hamburg this week. The aim of the visit was to find out about the transformation of a coastal location into a wind energy hub. Latvia is currently in the process of reforming its energy system and switching to renewable energies. Against this backdrop, an intensive exchange took place on Monday with representatives from Latvia and Germany, including the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Latvia, the City of Cuxhaven, the harbour industry of both countries, the ‘Agentur für Wirtschaftsförderung’ (Agency for Economic Development) and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. After a joint working lunch, the Latvian delegation was also able to get an idea of the synergies between offshore wind development and port expansion in presentations by PNE AG and Rhenus Cuxports at the PNE AG premises. A tour of the Siemens Gamesa plant rounded off the visit.
